What is everyone watching this week? There are at least 10 movies that seem to be a sure fire hit with Lebanese audiences, here they are:
1. You People
Starring Jonah Hill, Eddie Murphy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and more, this movie centers around a budding relationship between two LA millennials: a white man and a black woman, who now have to maneuver the ultimate test, getting their parents to meet.
2. Marvik
Based on a true story, this Norwegian drama explores a Norwegian soldier’s return home after Hitler’s first defeat in WW2. Upon his return he discovers a “shocking truth” about his wife. Stars Kristine Hartgen and Carl Martin Eggesbø.
3. Pamela: A Love Story
Directed by Ryan White, Pamela Anderson revisits her own life in this autobiographical picture. The sole star of this documentary reflects on her life through the use of personal videos, diaries, and her own words, exploring every facet of her very public life.
4. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Movie
Our favorite detective, Benoit Blanc, ends up at a tech billionaire’s murder mystery weekend on an isolated island, and has to investigate much more than he was expecting. Stars Daniel Craig, Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, and more.
5. All Quiet On The Western Front
This German movie takes us back to World War 1 and shows us the grim truth of life in the trenches of the western front. Following the story of 17 year old Paul, we see the harsh realities of the world war in a new light. Directed by Edward Berger.
6. The Gray Man
Starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas, this movie follows the story of a CIA agent that uncovers some sinister secrets from the agency’s past. He’s then hunted across the globe as a rogue agent places a bounty on his head.
7. The Price of Family
An Italian movie, starring Christian De Sica, Angela Finocchiaro, Dharma Mangia Woods, and Claudio Colica. It is a comedy that centers around parents attempting to trick their adult kids into visiting them for Christmas.
8. The Swimmers
Starring Manal and Natalie Issa, this story follows the real life journey of two sisters who go from a devastated Syria to the 2016 Rio Olympics. The movie’s main star has subsequently hadsome harsh words to share about it.
9. Bloodshot
Starring Vin Diesel, Eiza Gonzalez, and Guy Pearce, this movie follows a dead soldier who is resurrected with some new biotechnology. Returning to life, he embarks on a mission to get revenge on all those who wronged him. A sci-fi action film based on a comic book series.
10. Mission Majnu
The last movie on the list is also the first to come to us from the studios of Bollywood. Starring Sidharth Malhorta, Rashmika Mandanna, and Parmeet Sethi, this spy movie follows the story of a spy who goes undercover in Pakistan in the 1970s and attempts to expose their secret nuclear weapons program.
