This Businessman Wants To Form Lebanon’s “Government In Exile”

If you’ve lived in Lebanon during the last year or so, you’ve probably gotten used to how ridiculous this country has become. From our currency turning into Monopoly money, to full-on New Years Eve bashes right before complete lockdown, this country has really made us go… huh??

In case that’s not enough, in recent news, total rando Omar Harfouch has called upon President Michel Aoun to nominate him for Prime Minister and task him with forming a government.

For people who aren’t familiar with the name (AKA most of us), Omar Harfouch is a businessman of Lebanese origin living in Paris. He owns a communications group that operates in Ukraine and Russia with his brother.

In case that isn’t shady enough, back in the day, Harfouch founded a type of beauty contest where people on the internet are the judges. This is all in his Wikipedia page folks. Imagine what we’d find out if we did some real journalism here.

Harfouch says he wants to save Lebanon and form a “government in exile” after Prime Minister Hassan Diab stepped down from the position.

Harfouch, known in France for his appearance on the reality show I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, appeared on Toni Khalife’s show last night and claims that many Lebanese have written to him to ask him to become Prime Minister. He is running on a platform that claims he is part of the October 2019 revolution and wants to call upon countries to freeze the assets of the corrupt politicians and their relatives, hold early elections not based on the sectarian system, and give Lebanese women the right to pass on their nationality to their children.
