New Series About August 4 Beirut Blast Triggers Anger Among Lebanese
A new series revolving around the August 4 Beirut blast will be airing on Shahid, a leading streaming service in the Arab world that features original shows and popular Arab series.
The series is composed of 15 short films that look at the tragic events of August 4 and supposedly narrate the stories of survivors and victims.
Named “Beirut 6:07 PM”, the original series stars a number of Lebanese talents and takes viewers onto individual journeys on that devastating day.
The series has sparked outrage among Lebanese citizens who lived the tragedy firsthand and believe that the documentation of their pain at this time has come too soon and was done sloppily.
Here is a preview of the comments on Shahid’s preview post of Beirut 6:07 PM:
1.
What the hell is this? Do you think this is the right time to air this shit? The bodies of our victims are still cold and mothers are not done mourning. And you probably triggered so many people’s ptsd by making them relive that day. Shameful.
2.
Our tragedies and stories are not your entertainment, we are still trying to recover from the trauma, let us be.

Shame on you. This is extremely insensitive. I couldn’t even get myself to watch the trailer. We’re traumatized and you’re trying to capitalize on a fucking explosion?

The people havent been dead 3 months, people are still traumatized, 300k are still homeless, people havent forgotten what happened and you think its the time to make a show about our tragedies? How low do you have to be to try and make money off of other peoples suffering.
What do you think?
