19 People Lunch At Kababji, Leave The Bill For Sanioura

After having lunch with 18 of his friends at Kababji’s Hamra branch, Bilal Allaw and his entire group ditched the bill, telling the manager to ask Sanioura to pay it off – referring to Fouad Sanioura, Lebanon’s former Prime Minister and alleged shareholder of Kababji.

In the 9-minute video uploaded onto Allaw’s Facebook profile, you can see the group passing around sandwiches, mumbling “sahtein shabeb” between every bite. After enjoying a hefty spread of Kababji’s finest grill sandwiches, the group ditches the bill and asks management to bill Sanioura and “deduct it from the $11 billion” he allegedly stole.

Now, it’s important to note that there is no concrete evidence anywhere that suggests that Sanioura owns any shares in Kababji, with ownership being attributed to Toufic Khoueiri and Lucid Investment Bank (of which Sanioura’s son is the managing director). Back to the video, here’s a summary:

Two minutes into the video, you can hear Bilal telling his friends: “Kel shi 3a 7seb el sanioura tayyib“, meaning: “everything on Sanioura’s expense is delicious”.

Four minutes into the video, Bilal films himself writing on a piece of paper: “ya Sanioura ya menshar, khsomon men l 11 milyar”, which roughly translates into: “Sanioura, deduct them from the 11 billion”.

You can also hear Bilal telling his friends: “Nehna sarlna zamen ma akalna la7me, nehna men l taba2a l fa2ira, sah walla la2?” to which his friend replies “true”. He continues: “Nehna thawretna dod el rasmaliya. Nehna thawretna dod el taba2a el fesde. Nehna thawretna dod el taba2a yali mfakra eno hiye fo2 w nehna tahet. Fa hala2 l solta lal sha3eb yali metelna. Kel shi bbalesh kattir meno. W sahten w hana.

Translation: “We haven’t had meat in so long, we come from the poor class. Our revolution is against capitalism, it is against corruption, it is against those who think they are superior to us. Power to the people, and we love anything that comes for free. Sahten!”

Later, he even jokes about having dessert at Patchi, post lunch.

At minute 7:30, they all stand to leave at once.

At minute 8:00, Bilal walks up to the cashier and asks for the bill, which amounts to 181,500 LL. Bilal and his friends then turn to leave, telling the manager “ello lal Sanioura” or “tell Sanioura to pay it off”. That’s when the video cuts off, with the manager approaching Bilal.
