Fred Bistro: A Hidden Parisian Gem In Beirut

Nestled in a charming old building in the heart of Achrafieh, Fred Bistro welcomes you with open arms and an affable ambiance.

The gastronomic experience is the birth-child of Alfred Asseily, who had opened La Table D’Alfred back in 2007 then decided to divide the venue into two in 2012, restricting La Table D’Alfred to private events and custom made menus and launching Fred Bistro as a more casual and affordable concept.

Look for the adorable perched balcony on Sursock street and the bistro will immediately meet your eye, inviting you inside. Ask to be seated on the terrace and revel in the beguiling gardens, designed to bring nature and green spaces to you.

The bistro’s allure does not stop there, their unique walls are aligned with hand-painted plates that give you a preview of their specialty dishes and assorted menu.

Speaking of the menu, the Achrafieh gem serves an authentic French experience alongside every decadent dish they have listed.

For an orgasmic and signature “Fred Bistro” experience, opt for the Poulet Fermier à la Rotisserie or their homemade Foie Gras.

You can also choose your pick from a specialty selection of fresh fish and dry-aged meat cuts from different origins like the Australian Angus, USDA prime and French blonde d’aquitaine, all grilled to perfection on a bed of ignited charcoal.

Aside from the must-try Fred specialties, their menu also includes a wide variety of salads and entrées, as well as sandwiches and burgers.

Their Dry-Aged Cheese Burger sets an example of juicy goodness with Black Angus Australian beef layered with caramelized onions, confite tomatoes, cornichons, roquettes and their secret sauces, and sandwiched between a soft bun, while their Le Croque Monsieur will send you on a gastronomical trip to a renowned Parisian cafe from the very first bite.

With most of their products and ingredients imported straight from France, you could say the bistro tastes French.

Of course, it would be a complete waste not to conclude your experience with Fred Bistro’s Mille-feuille. We’re slightly unsure whether it’s a dessert option or a work of art, maybe both?

Once you’re addicted to their food (and you will be), you can rely on their daily lunch formula to keep you on your toes and satisfy your insatiable hunger. For 39,500 LL, you can gorge on their designated plat du jour, inspired by classic and traditional French dishes like Coq au vin, Boeuf Bourguignon, and Blanquette de veau, with a green side salad OR an equally scrumptious dessert.

And voilà, bon appétit!
