Senseless Crime: Young Lebanese Man Stabbed To Death During World Cup Celebrations
Following Wednesday night’s World Cup match, when Germany was defeated by South Korea and effectively removed from the competition, celebrations erupted throughout Beirut.
Among the revelers were both supporters of Germany and those who were happy to see the defending champions defeated. One of the latter, a man in his late twenties identified only as Jad and as an avid Brazil supporter, was celebrating Germany’s defeat in Hadath, Beirut.
After getting into an altercation with a 17-year-old Lebanese-German, Jad was stabbed to death for his celebration of the team’s demise.
Another senseless crime committed in Beirut, where a young life has been taken for a completely meaningless reason. It is irrelevant to argue that the crime is senseless because neither of the two involved were from Brazil or Germany – but rather that the crime itself is senseless for exactly what it is, murder. Shameful and completely devastating, a young life has perished in the name of absolutely nothing.
