MC Distribution in cooperation with Teleview presents “A Separation”, the new film by Asghar Farhadi, a rising director in Iranian cinema.

Nothing seems to be working anymore between Nader and his wife Simin. When she decides to file for divorce and leave the house, Nader undertakes a caregiver to look after his sick father; he does not know then that the woman he hired is pregnant and has accepted the job without the consent of her husband, known to be a hot-tempered man. When the young woman loses the child she’s carrying because of an incident with Nader, the lives of both families goes to pieces and reaches pit bottom when Nader is accused of being the cause of the young woman’s miscarriage. A steamed court battle ensues between the two families.

Through his portrayal of a couple in crisis, Asghar Farhadi explores the social divisions of Iran’s religious conservatism and its judicial system while maintaining the tension of a thriller piece. The film chronicles law enforcement policies as well as the sociological and political turmoil in Iran nowadays.
