About the Baalbeck International Festival

The Baalbeck International Festival, founded in 1956, is the Middle East’s oldest and most prestigious cultural event. Held in the iconic Roman temples of Baalbeck, the festival has played a key role in promoting Lebanese culture, tourism, and heritage. It features performances from local, regional, and international artists, with notable Lebanese talents such as Fairouz and the Rahbani Brothers rising to fame through its platform.

Despite a 22-year hiatus due to the Lebanese Civil War, the festival resumed in 1997. It has since hosted global stars like Sting, Charles Aznavour, and Jean Michel Jarre. The festival continued its cultural mission through challenging times, including relocating performances during regional instability and adapting to the pandemic with online streaming.

The festival thrives as a symbol of Lebanon’s resilience, celebrating cultural diversity and artistic excellence while promoting peace and tourism.
