All MEA Planes Set to Return from Cyprus Tomorrow as War Risk Eases

Last year, Middle East Airlines (MEA) moved the majority of its fleet from Lebanon to neighboring countries during the war, taking precautionary measures to “secure communication between Lebanon and the rest of the world,” according to Chairman Mohamad El Hout.

The decision to move the planes came after a ruling that reduced insurance coverage for war risks by approximately 80%, leaving MEA with limited financial protection against war-related damage. The airline kept 22 aircraft in Lebanon while relocating 10 to Cyprus, Oman, Qatar, and other countries.

Thankfully now, as the risk of war eases, MEA has been gradually bringing its fleet back to Beirut, with the final two planes set to return from Cyprus tomorrow, March 21, 2025.
