Lebanese Shawarma Voted Best Sandwich in the World

Are we even surprised that Lebanese food is once again dominating a TasteAtlas “best” list? They just released their January 2025 ranking of the 50 BEST sandwiches in the world, and Lebanese shawarma is number one!

We’re happy to see it was moved up after placing third on last year’s list. Just last year, the list was topped by Vietnamese Bánh mi, with Turkish Tombik döner following second, but now, Lebanese shawarma has claimed the spotlight.

We’re lowkey confused why there are so many American sandwiches on the list, but oh well. We’re also wondering why number 43 is blank…weird, right?

Toum was also ranked the best dip in the world last year, while Fattoush secured the 8th spot on the list of best salads. We’re happy to see Lebanese cuisine getting the appreciation it deserves!
