Hady Habib Becomes First Lebanese to Win Grand Slam Match

Twenty-six-year-old pro tennis player Hady Habib made history on Sunday as the first Lebanese player to qualify for and win a Grand Slam match.

Habib stunned crowds with a straight-sets victory, defeating China’s Bu Yunchaokete 7-6, 6-4, 7-6. After the match, he draped the Lebanese flag on his shoulders as he signed autographs.

Habib, who has been representing Lebanon since the start of his tennis career, is currently ranked world number 219 and continues to defy expectations on the sport’s biggest stages. His achievements put Lebanon on the map after his impressive performance at the Australian Open.
