What Do You Really Know About Hoda Haddad?

Hoda is known for her angelic voice and modest presence. Seven years younger than the legendary singer, she was always by her side, whether in supporting roles on stage or during interviews.

While Hoda had a successful musical career, her fame remained largely confined to Lebanon. She never held solo concerts but often joined Fairuz for her performances or appeared alongside her on television.

The resemblance between Hoda and Fairuz was uncanny. Not just in their looks, but also in their voices! Hoda often sang songs composed by the Rahbani Brothers.

In an interview, Hoda responded to why her fame did not amount to that of Fairuz, saying: “If the sun rises, its light overshadows the stars.”

In another interview with Anis Mansour, Fairuz responded when asked about the qualities and talent of her sister Hoda: “My sister sings lighter songs…she has a unique voice…and she doesn’t hold concerts, she only joins us in our performances and on television.”

Hoda Haddad kickstarted her career in 1959 with the support of the Rahbani brothers. A true multi-talented artist, she excelled in singing, dancing, acting, and even hosting TV programs

Hoda Haddad appeared in many Lebanese TV series and films, including the popular series Ayyam al-Dirasah and the Rahbani brothers’ Min Yawm Li Yawm.

In cinema, she starred in three films: Bayya’ al-KhawatimSafar Barlek, and Al-Zawjah al-Mafquda. She also participated in numerous Rahbani theatrical works, taking on supporting roles alongside Fairuz in plays such as Mais al-RimLoulouSahra’ Hubb, and Petra.

Hoda Haddad also hosted the musical TV program Dafater al-Layl in 1971, which featured sketches and songs by Fairuz, reflecting her charming and playful personality.
