Indian reporter and TRT World correspondant Priyanka Navani has been documenting life in South Lebanon’s Tyre amidst ongoing aggressions. She recently posted a video sharing a piece of advice she received from the people of South Lebanon, who she was shocked to see going about their daily lives.
In the video, she admits: “When I first got to the South, I thought I shouldn’t do my morning walk…I thought I shouldn’t sit at the beach and enjoy it…because we’re in the middle of a war.”
However, the reporter’s colleagues, who are from South Lebanon, taught her to enjoy the country regardless. They refuse to NOT enjoy Lebanon, and proceed with their daily activities like going fishing, swimming, or exercising. So she’s been allowing herself to enjoy mornings walks by the beach in Tyre!
In another video, she showed someone snorkeling despite two heavy airstrikes on Tyre the day before. She says: “The people of South Lebanon just keep swimming.”
Many of us may feel guilty to enjoy little things during these challenging times. However, finding moments of joy and connection can be essential for our well-being. Embracing small pleasures doesn’t mean ignoring the hardships around us—it helps us recharge and stay resilient through tough times.
