Dog Stands Watch Over Children Killed in Baalbek Strike

As rescue teams gather at scenes of devastation in Baalbek and sift through the rubble for survivors, a heartbreaking image captures a dog that stayed by the bodies of its young owners after recent attacks on the city.

According to Al Jazeera journalist Zeina Khodr, the children’s dog, who survived the Baalbek attack, stayed close by and watched over the bodies. She also described how the dog picked up one of the children’s shoes and placed it beside itself.

First responders and journalists on the ground continue to document the devastation as Baalbek’s residents grapple with grief and displacement amid relentless attacks. Many regions across Lebanon are witnessing similar scenes of destruction as the occupation continues its violent assaults on Lebanese territories.

Evacuation orders have targeted entire regions and cities in Lebanon. Recent attacks on the South have become increasingly violent. Cities like Sour and Nabatieh are being completely leveled to the ground.

As the violence escalates, the situation in Lebanon grows increasingly dire. Residents are in a state of uncertainty, fearing for their safety and the future of their communities. Aid organizations struggle to meet the urgent needs of displaced families who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
