Video: Lebanese Woman Prepares Coffee in Her Devastated Home

Amidst the destruction in Dahye, a southern suburb of Beirut, a Lebanese woman shared a series of videos, including one of herself preparing coffee while a Fairuz song played in the background. Through this simple video, she conveys a message of strength to the Lebanese people.

The Lebanese woman, Mona Fakih, lost her home following the occupation’s relentless bombing of Dahye. The videos posted to her Instagram showed her walking through her devastated apartment building, reflecting on cherished memories. She captioned one of her videos: “We will return, nshallah.”

Lebanon—as cliché as this sounds—has always risen against adversity, but only thanks to its people. Like the barber who is giving the displaced free haircuts, the dentist who turned his clinic in Saida into a soup kitchen, or the trained clowns making displaced people in shelters laugh despite the war.

In times of struggle, communities unite, finding strength in solidarity and hope in shared experiences. If you enjoyed this read, make sure to browse the #Support Lebanon section on our website. This section features relief efforts, helpful resources, donation options, and more.
