Clown Me In: Bringing Smiles and Laughter to Displaced Children

During such difficult times, a little bit of laughter goes a long way. That’s why Clown Me In is helping displaced children in shelters find strength through laughter.

Founded in 2008 by Sabine Choucair, this initiative has been dedicated to spreading joy and healing through the power of art. With over 50 trained clowns who engage communities in Lebanon and beyond, they’ve been empowering individuals through their engaging workshops and exciting performances.

Through their relief clown shows, their team of professionally trained clowns are filling shelters around Lebanon with smiles and joy. Dedicated clown Riwa Kharrat admits, “Every morning it’s a challenge to find the strength, and sometimes I wonder who needs the laughter more, them or us.”

Each show engages children and adults alike, fostering a sense of community and providing a much-needed escape. By sharing their talent and passion for clowning, they not only uplift spirits but also build lasting connections with those they perform for, reminding everyone that joy can thrive even in difficult circumstances.

Committed to democratizing access to the arts, this initiative advocates for social change while providing a joyful respite for those facing adversity. By making artistic experiences available to all, regardless of their background or circumstances, the initiative empowers communities to express themselves and connect with one another.
