Amazing news! The Summer 2024 Olympics are coming up, and quite a number of athletes from Lebanon will be participating. A talented group of athletes from a diverse range of sports, you’ll find Lebanon taking over the global arena in tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, shooting, and fencing.
Tennis
Benjamin Hassan will be representing Lebanon for the first time in the tennis division of the Summer 2024 Olympics. He’s dreaming big, hoping to eventually play against renowned Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, who has won over 20 Grand Slams, in the future.
Table Tennis
Two-time Olympian Mariana Sahakian competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in the women’s singles event, and she’s coming back this summer after winning gold in the 2024 Western Asia Qualification Tournament.
Taekwondo
For the first time since 2012, taekwondo athlete Laetitia Aoun will be representing Lebanon in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Shooting
After winning the 2023 Asian Shooting Championship in South Korea, Ray Bassil guaranteed her spot in the Olympics. The trap shooter is actually a four-time Olympic qualifier and eight-time World Cup medalist.
Fencing
Lebanese fencer from Mont La Salle’s fencing team, Philippe Wakim, is bringing Lebanon back to the Olympic stage after an eight-year absence.
