Earlier this week, Lebanon’s football team experienced a disappointing defeat against Tajikistan, leading to their elimination from the Asian Cup with a 2-1 loss.
Despite the defeat, our sportsmanship and sense of humor remained intact. A Lebanese fan in the Qatar stadiums gained viral attention for a humorous announcement after the game. Standing before the crowd with a microphone, the unnamed fan jokingly said, “shabeb w sabaya iza 7ada baddo yeb3at shi 3ala Beirut, bokra el montakhab kello nezil,” roughly translated as “if anyone wants to send something to Beirut, the entire team is heading there tomorrow.”
The fan playfully teased both the loss and the common expat practice of coordinating shipments to Beirut.
