Environmental expert and head of the Global Environmental Party Dr. Doumit Kamel revealed that a bed bug infestation has struck multiple regions across Lebanon, namely Beirut, Jbeil, Kesserwan, Tripoli, and Koura.
According to Al Jadeed, Kamel attributes the infestation to climate change and poor environmental conditions in the country. The Global Environment Party has developed an emergency plan to monitor highly infested regions and address the infestations via non-commercial means.

Bed bugs are reddish-brown wingless insects that feed on animal and human blood, typically during the night, and cause redness, irritation and itchiness, allergic reactions, and blisters on the skin. Small in size, they are often difficult to detect and control.
Kamel emphasizes the need to the latest non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, and environmentally friendly insecticides that should be sprayed all over the house and car to prevent further spread. Bed sheets and clothes should be treated with heat for 30 minutes, and all areas of the bed and mattress should be vacuumed thoroughly.
