Catch The 6th Brazilian Film Festival In Beirut This Week

This week, you can get a taste of Brazil right in the heart of Beirut at the 6th Brazilian Film Festival. Running at Caracalla Dance Theatre in Horsh Tabet till July 14, and then in Saida’s Ishbilia Theatre on July 20-21, this film festival includes a captivating lineup of Brazilian films that we’re sure all cinema-enjoyers will love.

The Brazilian film festival blends multiple genres to bring together an intriguing overview of film production in Brazil, including drama, satire, animation, and biographies. Most football lovers would probably enjoy catching Pelé: Birth of a Legend, while we’re intrigued by Carolina Markowicz’s Charcoal.

The festival’s full line up is as follows:

– July 11, 8:00 PM: Fogaréu by Flavia Neves

– July 12, 8:00 PM: Pixinguinha, an Affectionate Man / Pixinguinha, UmHomem Carinhoso by Denis Saraceni and Allan Fiterman

– July 13, 5:30 PM: Perlimps by Ale Abreu

– July 13, 8:00 PM: Corral / Curral by Marcelo Brennand

– July 14, 5:30 PM: Pelé: Birth of a Legend by Jeff Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist

– July 14: 8:00 PM: Charcoal / Carvão by Carolina Markowicz

It is interesting to see the continued connections between Lebanon and Brazil appear at this film festival, and the continued growth of the multicultural and transnational cultural scene in Beirut.

The film festival is organized by Metropolis Cinema in collaboration with the the Embassy of Brazil in Beirut and the Guimarães Rosa Institute – Beirut (Brasiliban). Entry to all films is free, but you need to RSVP your place on their website.
