The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards held their grand ceremony last night, the 12th of September 2022. The HBO hit show
Succession walked away with the award for Outstanding Drama Series, while Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso was victorious in the comedy category.
Lebanon’s cultural exports were unfortunately not represented in the award nominations this time around, but Lebanese designers made sure to represent the country on the award show’s red-turned-gold carpet.
Scandal star Kerry Washington
rocked the Emmys carpet with an off-white Elie Saab minidress that was accented with flowers. Washington paired the dress with black stockings and Louboutin heels. Some Bulgari jewelry topped off her stunning look.
The actress’ outfit was complimented on social media and during the red carpet coverage.
The other Lebanese designer represented on the carpet was Rani Zakhem. His bright yellow dress combined white jewelry at the waist with a plunging neckline to create a beautiful assemblage for former academy award winner Geena Davis.
Davis donned the dress as she accepted the Governers’ Award on behalf of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.
While we would love for Lebanon’s film and television to make it onto the stage at the Emmys, we are proud that Lebanon’s fantastic crop of designers has managed to consistently show off the country’s talent at the television awards’ red carpet. Hopefully we can get a Lebanese award winner wearing a Lebanese dress at next year’s show.
