Spring has officially sprung, and it’s time to revamp our wardrobes for the season. What better way to do that than support a local brand?
“Straplesss supports sustainability and giving back to the community,” says founder Elissa Lakis about her up-and-coming fashion brand.
Due to her dislike for fast fashion and her inability to find her go-to designs in stores, Lakis founded Straplesss back in 2018. She started effectively working on the brand in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
This season, Straplesss is launching their Spring collection, which will be 100% sustainable.
“This collection will portray a range of diversity and reconnect with nature,” says Lakis.
At the end of March, the brand held a competition that welcomed freelance fashion designers to aid in the creation of their new collection.
Lakkis went on to add, “We are still a small brand but we have our place in the market, since we have so much brand awareness”.
From the fabric suppliers to the manufacturers, Straplesss is a purely Lebanese brand that not only opposes fast fashion, but gives back to the community by supporting NGOs.
Straplesss reached out to CARE Lebanon – an NGO for children with autism and special needs – back in 2021 for them to take part in the “Straplesss for a Better Future” campaign.
“We were able to have more money than expected, and we donated the full profit to them,” shares Lakis regarding the campaign…we don’t take the profit, we only take the cost of the production.”
The brand is planning to collaborate with more NGOs, especially those involved in environmental affairs.
Strapless is aiming to expand internationally on their anniversary on the 27th of April, so make sure to check them out!
