51 Years Later, Chez Sami Closes Its Doors

Post edit: It was revealed that Chez Sami will be reopening sometime during the next year.

Another victim of Lebanon’s seemingly never-ending financial and economic crisis, the iconic Chez Sami restaurant in Jounieh appears to have closed their doors for good.

Having been open since 1970, the sea-side restaurant served fine seafood and Lebanese mezzo for over fifty years. This Lebanese gem was situated on the Maameltein coastal road next to a sandy seashore, in the heart of the famous bay of Jounieh, and just a few minutes away from the Casino du Liban. From its wooden terrace as well as its indoor dining area Chez Sami offered its hungry customers a wide and breathtaking sea view in addition to one of Lebanon’s most admired seafood and Lebanese menus.

These past two years have been brutal for Lebanese businesses who have been hit by an unprecedented financial crisis that has left their money trapped in banks.
