Good news!
94 Ethiopian women have been sent back home after enduring the most horrific forms of abuse under the Lebanese kafala system. Travel expenses were covered by
Egna Legna Besidet, a Lebanon-based Ethiopian migrants’ rights organization, and the International Organization for Migration.
This was made possible with the help of many heroes who donated to the fundraiser launched by Egna Legna Besidet to provide victims of the kafala system with food, medicine, and other basic necessities.
Repatriation had become an increasing demand among migrant workers over the past few months, especially after hundreds were abandoned by their employees and thrown out in front of the consulate with no money, food, or even their official papers. But now, we’re happy to report that these women finally have a way out.
These women deserve the best, and they have all our support.
3a2bel all the others!
