The Hippodrome in Tyre dates back to the second century, and is one of the oldest ruins in the city of Tyre. Carrying quite a significant portion of history, this public space was previously attributed for chariot races and other types of sports. It said that some of the events of the Tyrian Games might have been celebrated at this place.
In our present time, The Tyre Hippodrome is the municipality’s property, and with a holding capacity of about 40,000 people, many events and international festivals are held there.
