Lebanese Pride: littleBits Unveils Exciting Partnership with Korg
It’s not fair for the whole of Lebanon to take credit for the accomplishments of a single citizen, and bask in their glory, though you can’t help but feel a sense of pride when one of our own finds success on an international scale.
littleBits is the name of an educational tool/ toy consisting of an open source library of small electronic modules that snap together with tiny magnets, forming circuits. Dubbed “Lego for the iPad generation”, littleBits aims to inspire the kids of today to build, prototype, and experiment with electronics, so that they can become the innovators of the future.
The company was established in 2011 by Lebanese interactive artist, engineer, and entrepreneur Ayah Bdeir, who grew up between Lebanon and Canada, earning a masters degree from the MIT Media Lab and Computer Engineering and Sociology undergraduate degrees from the American University of Beirut. She has received various awards and honors, even being invited to speak at TED, a forum showcasing some of the world’s brightest minds.
Earlier this month, littleBits introduced its latest additions to its growing collection of electronic modules: the littleBits Synth Kit. Made in collaboration with legendary Japanese musical hardware manufacturers Korg, these modules are components of a modular synthesizer, each serving a unique function, and just as with other littleBits kits, the number of possible combinations and setups is only limited to your creativity.
