Ihsan Sadek is a Lebanese actor, singer, composer and broadcast programmer. He was awarded the National Order of Merit in the rank of Knight for his lifetime achievements in film, television, radio, theater and audio production, locally, regionally and globally.
Sadek heads the follow-up committee of the Lebanese Syndicate of Professional Artists since 2008, and has presided said Syndicate in 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2006.
He is one of the most prominent founders of both the Syndicate of Professional Artists and its Solidarity Fund where he currently sits as a member of the board. He was also president of the Lebanese Syndicate of Actors between 1970 and 1972 and vice-president of the Composers and Music Publishers Association from 1987 to 1993.
As an artist, Sadek played lead roles in 25 feature films starting with Two Hearts, One Body in 1959 until his last film Shadows of Silence in 2005. The most notable films he starred in include The Black Jaguar (1963), Beirut 011 (1966), Safar Barlek (1968), About Love (1973), and Earth Won’t Change Tomorrow (Morocco, 1974).
Sadek’s career in television includes a dozen remarkable works starting with Fares Bin Ayad in 1968 and ending with Dear Marwa in 1987. In between he was in The Thief’s Son & The Sheriff’s Daughter (1971), The Confused Melody (1972), The Knight’s Return (Jordan, 1974), For Ghadi (1984), Hanady (1986) among others.
Sadek also wrote and composed many musical shows including: The Magic Box (1963-1966), A Ballad (1967), Sleepless Nights (1970), Roses and Thorns (Greece, 1981), and The Stars Theater (Jordan, 1988).
He also released a couple of records on Philips, Sawt El Charq and other labels, including the soundtrack of the TV series Fares Bin Ayad and a self-titled album in 1980.
