The Metropolis Association collaborates for the eighth consecutive year with the French Institute to bring you Les Écrans du Réel, the documentary film festival in all its forms, from 26 March until 1st April 2012. This year also the festival will give the opportunity to the Lebanese public to see documentaries released between 2010 and 2011, awarded in several festivals and that will make the spectators travel from Bollywood to the Tahrir square, from the mountains tops to the depth of the human body. The festival will present an overview of the current documentary creation with a selection of seventeen films awarded in several festivals and not released in Lebanon before.
This event is in partnership with the International Documentary Festival of Marseille. FID Marseille will present four films that were awarded in its last edition in 2011.
In this year’s program, two Lebanese documentaries will be screened in a premiere: Sector Zero directed by Nadim Mishlawi and Gate n° 5 directed by Simon El Habre.
The release of these two films will take place in a special program including eight recent Lebanese films during the months of May and June at Metropolis Empire Sofil. The documentary Dream Country directed by Jihane Chouaib will also be screened in this eighth edition of Les Écrans du Réel. The three films will be screened in the presence of the filmmakers.
