Amazing News! Public Bus Routes Expanded to Bekaa

Starting Tuesday, April 22, 2025, a new public bus line will begin operating, connecting the Bekaa region directly to Beirut. This new route runs from Chtaura in Bekaa to Cola in Beirut, offering a much-needed public transport option for commuters and travelers between these key areas.

What You Need to Know About the New Bekaa-Beirut Bus Line

This expansion is part of Lebanon’s ongoing efforts to improve its public transport network, following the successful launch of several bus routes in Beirut and its suburbs since July 2024. The new Bekaa line will provide a reliable, affordable, and comfortable way for passengers to travel between the Bekaa Valley and the capital.

  • Route: Chtaura (Bekaa) → Beirut → Cola
  • Start Date: Tuesday, April 22, 2025
  • Operating Hours: 6 AM to 7 PM daily
  • Frequency: Every 20–25 minutes (subject to traffic conditions)
  • Fare:
    • Beirut to Bhamdoun: 100,000 LBP
    • Beirut to Chtaura or Aley to Chtaura: 200,000 LBP

How to Use the Public Bus System in Lebanon

If you’re new to Lebanon’s public buses, here’s a quick guide to get you started:

  • Tickets: You can buy a one-time pass directly from the driver when boarding. The driver will provide a QR code to scan for payment.
  • Rechargeable Card: For frequent travelers, a rechargeable bus card costs 250,000 LBP and includes one free trip. You can top it up at designated locations.
  • Routes: Alongside the Bekaa line, several routes operate within Beirut and connect to surrounding areas like Dora, Hamra, Antelias, and more.
