Lebanese pop singer Haifa Wehbe has been banned from performing in Egypt once again. Here’s what we know.
Though some sources suggest the ban is due to contract violations, Megaphone News alleges that the complaint was actually filed by Haifa’s former business manager, Khaled Mostafa Hassanein (also known as Khaled al-Tohamy). He accused her of defamation and slander, prompting the Egyptian Musicians’ Syndicate to revoke her permit to perform in the country.
The syndicate announced that she would not be granted a performance license after failing to appear before an investigation committee.
This isn’t the first time Haifa has faced such issues in Egypt. In August 2024, her work permit was suspended after alleged breaches of contracts with a film production company and an event organizer. That suspension was later lifted after she reconciled with the authorities.
Previously, Haifa was banned in 2017 due to a dispute with producer Mohammed al-Sobki. This affected her involvement in two major projects. Despite the drama, Haifa kept a positive attitude, telling fans she’d return to Egypt soon.
She hasn’t made any official statements regarding the ban, but we’re not sure if this shady tweet is related: “Keep talking, I am NOT listening. Bla bla bla…”
Though her ban is back in effect, this is likely not the end of Haifa’s career in Egypt. In any case, we’re always Team Haifa.
