Are These 8 Beirut Spots Overhyped Or Underrated? Here’s What We Think

If you’ve been wondering whether those Beirut spots that everyone keeps posting about are overhyped or underrated, you’re about to find out.

Are they overhyped or overrated?

Note: We’re not saying any of these places are bad. They’re all great places to eat, but we think that other places also deserve the attention.

1. Buck It

Rating: Underrated

We have yet to find a spot in Beirut that does fried chicken like Buck It. It puts Popeyes to shame with its crunchy goodness, and it’s very affordable!

We recommend trying their fried chicken burgers, but if you want to be safe during your first visit, you can’t go wrong with chicken strips.

2. The Bros

Rating: Overhyped

The Bros is a burger staple that we all know and love, but we think that there are a few burger joints that make very similar burgers. Some people go in with VERY high expectations because people overhype it. Not to say it’s not a great burger joint, it’s just not life changing.

If you want a good burger to try, then definitely try The New Kid. You can read our honest review here.

3. The Witty Bun

Rating: Overhyped

The only reason we’re rating this as overhyped is because it’s more on the expensive side. You can get equally good smashed burgers for much cheaper somewhere else, so if you don’t want to splurge on a burger, then you might not want to go for The Witty Bun.

There are a lot of great smashed burger options out there!

4. Munchease Diner

Rating: Underrated

A super affordable spot that we won’t shut up about or gatekeep. From a small shack in Khalde to an amazing gem in Gemmayze, Munchease is a hard-to-beat joint in the city.

You can check out our guide on what to eat when you visit here.

5. Cheese On Top

Rating: Very fairly rated

Another affordable spot with consistently good burgers. There’s a reason it’s always packed and a go-to for university students, but we definitely wouldn’t recommend this for picky eaters. That’s why we’re rating this as very fairly rated.

6. Smoak

Rating: Underrated

Not a lot of people know about this smokehouse, and they really deserve the attention. From mouthwatering brisket burgers to flavorful pork ribs, this is a meat lover’s paradise. Yes, compared to other casual dining spots, it’s a bit pricier. But other smokehouses tend to be expensive, so it’s relatively more affordable than others.

7. Swiss Butter

Rating: Very fairly rated

We wanted to say it’s overrated because of how crowded it always is, but honestly, it’s such an affordable spot that it wouldn’t be fair. They’re always consistent, and their food is accessible (all priced at less than $14 for steak and fries).

We haven’t tried the dupe yet, but we heard it’s actually MORE expensive than the original. That kind of defeats the purpose of creating a dupe…

8. Graze

Rating: Underrated

Arguably one of the BEST burgers you’ll have in Beirut. We need a category of severely underrated spots to put Graze under it. Those who have tried it will definitely understand where we’re coming from, so we recommend making an order as soon as you close this article.
