The Arab Psychedelic Society is working to bring MDMA-assisted therapy to Lebanon and the wider Arab region. The goal is to train 18 therapists in this cutting-edge form of therapy, equipping them with the skills to provide this treatment safely and effectively.
MDMA-assisted therapy is a treatment approach that combines the use of MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) with psychotherapy. MDMA is a psychoactive drug that enhances feelings of empathy, trust, and emotional openness, which can help patients confront and process difficult emotions during therapy.
In this form of therapy, a trained therapist guides the patient through the emotional experience while the drug is in their system, typically in a controlled, clinical setting. The idea is that MDMA can help patients work through trauma, anxiety, depression, or PTSD by allowing them to access and process their emotions more easily.

MDMA-assisted therapy has shown great promise in helping people with trauma, depression, and anxiety. To succeed in Arab communities, therapists must understand both the treatment and the cultural context.
This initiative, led by Arab psychologists, doctors, scientists, researchers and mental health professionals, is raising funds to train these therapists. Donations will go toward funding the training program, which will help make MDMA therapy accessible in the region.
The Arab Psychedelic Society is working with The Nowak Society, a nonprofit, to manage donations and ensure that funds are used responsibly.
