This Week: Free Cardiac Screening for Taxi Drivers in Lebanon

Care, a medical student-led initiative at AUBMC, frequently provides free healthcare services to ensure everyone gets the care they need. This week, they’re giving taxi drivers in Lebanon free cardiac screenings!

To ensure that all Lebanese people have access to healthcare services, this initiative offers free medical checkups, screenings, and consultations, focusing on underserved communities. Here’s what you have to do to book your free ECG:

Are you a taxi driver in Lebanon who can benefit from a free cardiac screening? Reach out via WhatsApp on +961 71 551 381 BEFORE February 18 to book your appointment. The screening will take place at AUBMC on Saturday, February 22.

What happens during a cardiac screening?

An ECG (electrocardiogram) is a quick, painless test that records the electrical activity of the heart. Here’s how it works:

1. Preparation: You’ll be asked to lie down, and a healthcare professional will attach small electrodes (sticky patches) to your chest, arms, and legs. If necessary, they may shave small areas of skin for better contact.

2. Recording: The electrodes are connected to an ECG machine, which detects and records the electrical signals of your heart. You’ll need to stay still and breathe normally for a few seconds while the machine takes the reading.

3. Completion: The test usually takes just a few minutes, after which the electrodes are removed, and the doctor reviews the results.

It’s a non-invasive, painless procedure used to check heart rhythm, detect irregularities, and assess overall heart health!
