The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has published their annual Middle East & North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025, and this year, Dubai’s Orfali Bros Bistro claimed the #1 spot, while the list also saw the inclusion of two Lebanese restaurants.
The highest-ranking Lebanese restaurant this year was Em Sherif at #9, with the curators describing it as:
“…the quintessential Lebanese dining experience, Em Sherif offers guests a taste of traditional home cooking in a truly opulent setting designed to make you feel like you could be eating food served at the chef’s own kitchen table”.
The curators of the list go on to recommend the kibbeh nayyeh and mhallabiye.
Baron followed at #42:
“It’s a fun, unfussy venue hidden in the fashionable streets of the artsy Armenian Mar Mikhael sector in Beirut. Baron is sustainability-focused and prides itself on sourcing ingredients from local markets, farmers and fishers.” The noteworthy dish of choice? The roasted and spiced cauliflower we all know and love!
Lebanon’s representation may have shrunk this year, but the presence of these outstanding restaurants highlights the country’s enduring gastronomic excellence. Here’s to seeing more local spots make the cut next time around!
