Lebanese MPs Nominate Nawaf Salam as Prime Minister

During today’s parliamentary consultations with newly-elected president Joseph Aoun, Lebanese MPs have officially nominated judge and diplomat Nawaf Salam as the country’s next Prime Minister. Salam, who was considered multiple times as a candidate for Prime Minister back in 2019, secured 68 votes for his nomination.

Back in February of 2024, he was elected President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). He has served as an ICJ member since 2018, contributing to significant rulings in international law.
