Cate Blanchett Celebrates Reopening of Beirut’s Metropolis Cinema

After a successful reopening of Beirut’s eighteen-year-old Metropolis Cinema, Academy Award-winning actor and producer Cate Blanchett shared her congratulations!

“This is a remarkable achievement, and I extend my congratulations to everyone involved in the opening of the Metropolis Cinema in the heart of Beirut,” Blanchett shared in a heartfelt message.

“Not only will it be a space where Lebanese cinema can flourish and new voices can emerge, but in these deeply tragic, heartbreaking and bewildering times, this venue in Mar Mikhael stands as a testament to resilience and cultural revival—bringing stories to life and uniting the community,” she added.

Metropolis Cinema is kicking off its first week with a bang. With screenings from December 23 to 30, it’s the perfect time to add a movie night to your plans. This week’s schedule is packed with cinematic gems from the past. Yousry Nasrallah’s Bab El Shams, Feyrouz Serhal’s The Third Rahbani, Hassan El Emam’s Khalli Balak Men Zouzou, and more await!

The best part is that the tickets are extremely affordable, priced at 400,000 LL. And some films will be free of charge!
