Earlier this month, the Ministry of Public Health announced that the forcibly displaced may benefit from a number of free medical services at primary healthcare centers across Lebanon. These services now include full coverage of childbirth expenses for displaced pregnant women.
Here’s how it works:
The ministry’s team will require information about the pregnant woman’s situation, her health condition during pregnancy, and any relevant medical details about her or the baby. Upon determining her area of displacement, they will record her full name and phone number.
The team will work to secure a spot in a nearby government hospital offering maternity and newborn care based on the mother’s and baby’s condition. Once the location is confirmed, the ministry will contact her to share the hospital details.
Visit the nearest primary healthcare center or community-based primary healthcare units that are visiting shelters hosting the displaced.
The expecting mother should have, at this point, informed the ministry of her full name and phone number. The midwife will then be briefed on the mother’s situation, her health condition during pregnancy, and any relevant health information about her or the baby.
Here is a list of all the hospitals in which displaced pregnant women can benefit from 100% coverage of childbirth services:
