A Lebanese florist has been bringing color and life back to Dahye with beautiful flower arrangements! The owner of Planto: Flowers & Beyond decided to create vibrant bouquets amidst the destruction in Dahye, hoping to create beauty even in times of war.
A series of videos shows the florist visiting Beirut’s southern suburb where he arranges colorful bouquets on a wooden board next to his destroyed flower shop. Recently affected by bombing, the area shows clear signs of destruction, but the florist still takes time to create moments of beauty amidst the damage.
Despite the challenges Lebanon is facing, its people continue to show their love for life.
Under one of his posts showing an iteration of Van Gogh’s self-portrait by the artist Huda against the backdrop of destruction, he writes: “We are a people who love art and life, creating beauty in all its forms and colors, through the hardest and best of times. Always creative, never defeated, and we don’t believe in the impossible.”
In a region marked by pain and tragedy, these simple moments remind us that, despite everything, the Lebanese always find ways to live, to celebrate, and to hold onto beauty.
