In times like these, we’re especially delighted to shine a light on Lebanon’s cherished national treasures. The country is home to a number of historic institutions that preserve its rich heritage, and one such gem is the National Museum of Beirut, which recently inaugurated a new pavilion and café.
Officially inaugurated on September 18, 2024, the Nuhad Es-Said Pavilion for Culture finally opened its doors to welcome visitors who wish to discover the new annex.
The new pavilion is named after late collector Nuhad Es-Said (1939-1982). His most renowned private collection features Islamic metalwork and notable artifacts, especially from Egypt and Syria, with intricate metalworks decorated in silver and gold.
The Beirut Museum of Art (BeMA) organized the inaugural café and exhibition, aiming to enrich Lebanon’s cultural landscape. The recent exhibition “Portals & Pathways” included a number of never before seen modern works. They were curated from the collection of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture.
