The constant buzzing of drones over Beirut turned into a source of inspiration for Lebanese sound artist Mohamed Choucair.
“Now your synth sounds can be as annoying as UAVs. How deadly they are is up to you.”

The reconnaissance drones, more commonly referred to as MK (also humorously known as Em Kamil) in Lebanon, have a history of infiltrating Lebanese airspace. Their constant buzz over the past year has been a constant reminder of the occupation’s violence against Lebanon and Palestine.
Choucair decided to transform the buzzing into an instrument of resilience, a small act of resistance aimed at reclaiming Lebanese autonomy and sovereignty. Music is often used as a tool of resistance against the occupation, allowing artists to utilize their creative expression to reclaim power in the face of oppression.
