Rabweh Engulfed in Flames for Three Consecutive Days

For its third consecutive day, Rabweh, located in the Matn district, has been engulfed in flames. The fire has relentlessly consumed a significant portion of its lush forests as the Civil Defense struggles to contain it.

The challenging terrain and high winds are complicating their efforts. Due to the dry nature of the landscape, the fire is rapidly spreading. Lebanese Army helicopters are participating in the firefighting efforts. According to Raymond Khattar, Director General of the Lebanese Civil Defense, Cyprus is sending specialized aircrafts to assist in extinguishing the fires.

The heavy smoke from the spreading Rabweh fire forced the closure of the Matn highway. Road visibility has been severely compromised, creating dangerous conditions for drivers.

Khattar suspects that the fire in Rabweh was deliberate. Relevant authorities, including the Minister of Interior, are working to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The main objective is to prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas and to mitigate further destruction of the forests.

Those who wish to help can reach out to nearby Civil Defense centers or municipalities. The teams working on the ground are in need of support.
