This Wonderful Initiative Is Supporting the People of Deir Mimas

Just 3km from the border with occupied Palestine, Deir Mimas is one of many border villages in the Marjaayoun district gripped by the occupation’s violent bombardment of the south.

The Deirmimas Benevolent Association (DMBA) was formed by its loving people who refuse to leave their land. The association aims to:

– Shelter and support the displaced

– Provide essential healthcare services

– Ensure electricity availability

– Distribute healthy meals

– Maintain 24-hour security for properties

The association also aims to support the village’s olive farmers, most of whom have been displaced from Deir Mimas. The ongoing war has unfortunately shattered hopes for a long-awaited olive harvest, which is a vital source of livelihood for the locals.

Known for its natural heritage, the village boasts many millennial olive trees, some of which are over 2,000 years old. In fact, Deir Mimas produces some of the best olive oil in Lebanon – if not, the world.

Did you know that Darmmess is a multi-award winning olive oil brand? Its founder studied the village’s ancestral heritage to create liquid gold.
