AUB Launches Board Game to Educate Players about Palestine
The American University of Beirut (AUB)’s Palestine Land Studies Center recently released a board game at their recent fundraising dinner for Gaza. Titled “The Return Game”, it aims to educate players about Palestinian culture, society, and history.
Dr. Rami Zurayk, a professor and interim director of the Palestine Land Studies Center, explained that “The principal idea of the game is the ‘Right of Return’ and that is why it is called ‘The Return Game’. The essential idea behind it is that you cannot return to Palestine if you do not know Palestine. You need to demonstrate your knowledge of Palestine and to be able to enter it and to liberate its villages and towns.”
With an educational purpose in mind, here is how the game works:
- Players roll the dice and move around the board
- Players draw cards to answer questions about Palestine to move forward in the game
- The player who wins is the one who contributes most to the liberation of Palestine
