People Lose their Sh*t Over Funny Al-Abdalla Chicken Ad

What does it take to offend some people? Apparently, a boobs/legs joke.

A new advertisement for the popular (and tasty) Al Abdalla chicken restaurant, announcing the opening of their new Furn el Chebbak branch, has been making the rounds on social media. The ad, hosted by comedian Ely Chemaly, known for his often funny voxpop interviews, caught some unexpected backlash from Twitter users.

In typical Chemaly fashion, the comedian interviews Corniche patrons, asking them, “bet faddel el sedr, el ra2be, aw el fkhad?” which translates to, “Do you prefer breasts, the neck, or thighs?”—alluding to the different pieces of chicken. Several people responded with hilarious jokes, tasted Abdalla’s signature toum, and even kissed their partners on camera.

Unfortunately, the ad found its way to the humorless side of Twitter. Some people were faux outraged, calling for a boycott due to the ad being “sexual.” Here are some of the tweets:

(Also, shu khass?!)

While humor is largely subjective, and what tickles one person’s funny bone may not resonate with another, it’s safe to say, it’s not that serious. We don’t know about you, but we’re craving their chicken bites right now.
