Today, we are thrilled to share the exciting news that the Lebanese film “Arzé” has been selected to be featured in the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival 2024!
Directed by the talented Mira Shaib and produced and written by Faissal Sam Shaib and Louay Khraish, with the producer Zeina Badran from the Beirut-based Spotless Mind Films production company and in collaboration with Executive Producer Ali Alarabi of Ambient Light. This captivating drama promises to take audiences on a journey through the streets of Beirut.
Starring the remarkable Diamand Abou Abboud as the determined single mother, “Arzé” follows her relentless quest to retrieve her stolen scooter, which serves as her lifeline in sustaining her home-cooked food delivery business. Joined by her teenage son, they embark on a chaotic and kaleidoscopic journey across sectarian Beirut, navigating through its diverse neighborhoods and encountering a myriad of challenges along the way. It is a tribute to Beirut and mothers. You can watch the first trailer here.
Set to make its North American premiere in the competitive Viewpoints sidebar of the Tribeca Film Festival, running from June 5 to 16, “Arzé” is poised to captivate audiences with its poignant storytelling and compelling performances. With its inclusion in such a prestigious festival lineup, “Arzé” reaffirms the growing prominence of Lebanese cinema on the global stage. The film was also shortlisted for this year’s Future Forward at the Beijing International Film Festival, being among the 15 selected for the award out of 1,509 feature films registered.
MABROUK to the cast and crew of “Arzé” on this remarkable win, particularly to our very own Beirut.com family member, Mira Shaib. May you continue to see the success we know you deserve.
