In case you missed the last parrot we found that was going viral on social media, Leela has some competition with yet another adorable African grey who has a lot to say. And in Lebanese Arabic!
Kookoo is not your average African grey because he probably speaks better Arabic than we do. Unlike other birds that only parrot certain words or phrases, Kookoo has full on conversations – and they’re absolutely hilarious.

Apart from knowing how to count to three, Kookoo loves saying “saba7o”, “shattour”, and “l7amdella”. But if you piss him off, he’s doing to hit you with a “tfoo 3lek” or “bodorbak” and a disapproving shake of his foot. Social media users immediately fell in love with Kookoo’s fiery personality (which we think sounds eerily similar to our Lebanese tetas).
People commented on Kookoo’s dialect and were quick to take him in as your typical Beiruti bird. Here are some of the comments on the post:
Sometimes Kookoo decides that he doesn’t want to be a parrot for the day and starts meowing or barking, so we can imagine that his owners get the occasional scare. But if you have a problem with it, then he’ll definitely retaliate with a threat: “Badde kasrak”. Watch it here:

We think Leela and Kookoo can be great friends. Let’s hope they join forces some day and have a fun, news-worthy conversation with each other. If you want to keep up with this chatty African grey, then make sure to check out his TikTok.
