Yara El Murr Named Young Journalist Of The Year 2023

Passionate Lebanese journalist Yara El Murr was just announced the winner of the Young Journalist of the Year 2023, a prestigious award that aims to celebrate brilliant young journalists and the amazing work they’ do.

The annual competition, which has been taking place since 2013, is organized by the Thompson Foundation and the Foreign Press Association.

One of the entries that El Murr submitted was Intercepted at Sea: The Deadly Reality of Border Control, a chilling three-part piece that examined the human cost of border enforcement.

Today, we celebrate El Murr and her amazing achievements as a young journalist while honoring the many journalists who are on the frontlines, reporting the truth and acting as a voice for the voiceless sadly at the cost of their own lives.
