Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport is about to get a major culinary face lift, with a wave of new restaurants set to open at Lebanon’s only airport this summer. Airport mainstays such as Cafe Matik and Balkoumi are making way for brands such as Dunkin’ and Zaatar w Zeit, after the airport’s administration awarded a new contractor control of its terminal catering.
So far, Dunkin’ is the only new shop to officially open at the airport, with the American coffee and donut brand offering free food and drink to the airport’s employees on the first day of operation. Zaatar w Zeit looks set to follow soon, while rumblings from the airport indicate that Al Agha, Znoud el Sett, Pain D’Or, and McDonalds could be joining soon.
The airport’s main terminal has slots for up to 8 restaurants, in addition to some Kiosk positions. Lebanon’s new airport caterer is Nevada S.A.L, a company linked to the management of Lancaster hotels in Beirut. They are reported to have bid up to $3.45 million for the airport’s catering rights.

Restaurants such as Balkoumi and Cafe Matik had been operating inside the airport for the past 18 years. The new additions to the airport’s culinary landscape offer a new experience to travellers who had grown tired of the options at Rafic Hariri International Airport. This follows a failed attempt to build a new terminal at the airport earlier this year.
We’ll keep you updated as more restaurants and cafes officially announce their flight to the terminal.
