Here Are 6 Of The Most Beautiful Towns In South Lebanon

Today’s trip is to the south of Lebanon, where you’ll get to uncover some of the most beautiful and culturally rich spots in the country. Here are 6 picturesque towns in Lebanon’s south that should be on your bucket list.

1. Jezzine

Jezzine stands as one of the most beautiful towns in Lebanon, boasting breathtaking mountainscapes and majestic waterfalls. You can book a stay at Blue Jay Valley for a glamorous camping experience if you’re looking for a perfect escape from the city. Then make your way to Al Chalouf Restaurant for a taste of authentic Lebanese cuisine, not too far from Jezzine’s waterfalls.

2. Bkassine

Home to the largest pine forest in the Middle East, Bkassine is a southern gem that is a charming road trip destination. Wander through its small souk, red-tiled traditional houses, and grand churches that are scattered around town. Known for its local produce of pine nuts and olive oil, make sure to try its local delicacies.

We recommend a stay at Maison de la Forêt , one of the best eco-touristic sites in the heart of the forest. And if you’re a wine enthusiast, take a trip to Karam Winery to sample an exquisite selection of wines.

3. Jarjouh

Resting on Mleeta hills, Jarjouh is a sight for sore eyes. The town is surrounded by glorious oak forests, a dreamy destination for every nature lover. You can enjoy a tasty Lebanese lunch at Hawa Jarjouh with a clear view of the mountains. After that, head to Al Taseh spring, the starting point of Al Zahrani River, where you can set up a picnic in nature.

4. Kfar Houna

A beautiful town in the Jezzine district that’s definitely worth the drive. The town is known for its expansive vegetation, rich local produce, and breathtaking winter views. Visit the historic monastery of St George Al-Muzayraa, and while you’re there, have a taste of their freshly baked (and made with love) saj bread.

5. Al Rihane

As the name suggests, this southern town is known for its abundance in basil herbs. It’s an attractive local site known for its majestic pine trees, stunning sunset spots, and historic caves.

Explore the town and head to Al Rihane National Library, where you’ll uncover a vintage selection of books. But a must-visit location is Rihane Grotto. Its rooms and passages showcase naturally carved statues. For more information and booking, contact Rihane Grotto on 71 467 164.

6. Marjeyoun

Perched on a hill full of greenery and lush surroundings, Marjeyoun is the jewel of the South. The name “Marjeyoun”, meaning “meadow of spring,” derives from its fertile lands and abundant water sources.

Visit the town’s Ottoman souk and explore its well-preserved traditional Lebanese houses on foot. For a delicious lunch, try Falafel Maurice 1966 for the best crunchy falafel wraps in town. Then, head to Beaufort Castle (Qalaat Al Shaqif) and wander through a labyrinth of ancient passages and terraces. This 1000-year-old Crusader fortress overlooks the Litani River and Mount Amel, featuring a panoramic view of Southern Lebanon and Northern Palestine. It is open daily from 8 am until 7:30 pm.
