ARM: “Stop The Deportation of Imprisoned Kenyan Activist In Lebanon”

The Anti-Racism Movement has shared an urgent call to action to protect Kenyan activist and domestic worker N.M. from deportation under reportedly false premises.

Since April, N.M. has been detained by the General Security Office despite being acquitted of the false accusations under which she had been arrested. It is important to note that she is also an asylum seeker, meaning that being deported poses a great danger to her life if she were to return to her country.

According to the UNHCR, “the forced return of asylum-seekers without a full examination of their asylum claims is a serious breach of international refugee law”. She has also been kept in inhumane conditions, with the General Security allegedly “lying to her lawyer and withholding information about her legal status and whereabouts”.

ARM is asking everyone to:

– Share the statement as widely as you can, tag the General Security, to let them know we are watching their illegal practices

– If you know anyone who is working at Beirut airport, or who will be there for a flight today, tonight or tomorrow morning, share with them this statement, and our number: 76 051 169 and ask them to call in order to support her and resist her deportation which is her legal right.
